Mark your calendars – Rue La La is at it again. This Thursday, Aug. 19th, they are hosting a KitchenAid sale.  If you have been in the market for that “must have” mixer, you might want to drop by when the sale opens.  Just last week they had Villeroy & Boch – the week prior, Cuisinart. I can’t tell you how many great sales from Rue La La have crossed my path where I have scored some decent finds for both my kitchen and my shoe closet. (For Bren, umm… L.A.M.B. boutique starts tomorrow – Aug. 18th!)  Word to the wise, it’s like any other sample sale – when the “doors” open at 11:00 a.m., people scurry for those popular items so you will need to move quick to score that deal.

If you aren’t a member, you can sign up here.   You can thank me later, after you’ve gotten that mixer you have been eyeing forever.

Deal Alert: Rue La La Hosts Le Creuset Sale

Posted by: Lys | Comments (0)

Rue La La is one of those websites that I ALWAYS check on the daily – to see what sales they have and what sales are coming up.  Rue La La has the best prices and the best selection of many of the sample sale sites out there and there are quite a bit.  Prime Example – I just recently purchased a pair of killer Giuseppe Zanotti stilettos from Rue La La at over 50% off.  Their customer service is impeccable, the selection is to die for and – wait for it – they are hosting a LE CREUSET SALE tomorrow [Friday].

Now, you know I’ll be logging in at 11 a.m. to see what lovely Le Creuset beauties are available and, of course, texting Manouschka* to make sure that she’s in approval of the potential purchase.  Le Creuset can be pricey but WELL worth the investment.  I have pieces that I bought years ago that still look good as new and they are workhorses in the kitchen.  If my braiser could talk, lord the stories it would tell.  If you aren’t a member of Rue La La, why not mosey on over there and check it out – you won’t be sorry!

* Single Serving’s Manouschka has helped not only myself but quite a few other bloggers find elusive Le Creuset pieces that aren’t in your typical store (rose, lilac and other faboosh colors!).  Basically, I consider her to be one heck of a Le Creuset expert.  If you have a Le Creuset question, reach out to her – she might be able to help!

Gift Spotlight: All Things Julia & Julia…

Posted by: Lys | Comments (2)

Kicking off a series of “HOLIDAY GIFT SPOTLIGHTS” – let’s start with a spotlight on all things Julie & Julia

First of all, Sur La Table has this phenomenal gift set with both the DVD of Julie & Julia and the epic “Mastering The Art of French Cooking” which should be a staple for any home cook, no?

SLT-JulieJuliaGiftSet

For those that adored the character of Julie Powell, you might want to check out her latest novel, Cleaving: A Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession

JuliePowell-Cleaving

or the book upon which the movie is based, Julie and Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously

JulieandJuliaBook

What about those that love the classic Julia Child.  Well, in addition to any of her cookbooks, you can also pick up the DVDs of:

Julia Child – The French Chef,

TheFrenchChef

Julia Child’s The Way To Cook DVD

JuliaChild-WayToCook

or

Julia & Jacques Cooking At Home

Finally, you know what would REALLY be great – what about wrapping up the DVD of the movie within the Mauviel Oval Copper Fry Pan from the Sole Meuniere scene where Julia just falls in love with French food.  Now THAT is a great idea to put under the tree for that special someone (even if it’s for yourself – don’t worry – I’ll never tell).

You just can never go wrong with Julia Child…

I adore Dean & Deluca - their spices are some of the best I’ve ever used.  Heck, if Barefoot Contessa uses them, why shouldn’t we.   However the closest D&D to me is in NYC so I have to be content with shopping online.  When I moved to Philly, the first thing I did was order some new spices and their shipping was lightening fast.  Normally I shop through Ebates and I adore getting 5% cash back on all of my D&D needs.  However, Ebates is giving DOUBLE cash back on all Dean & Deluca purchases for TODAY ONLY.  Heck - thats 10% back and you know I’ll be shopping today to get some seriously fabu spices, coffee and more!

If you aren’t a member of Ebates, sign up through this link and both you and I get a bonus $5.

So what are you waiting for – go forth and get that holiday shopping done EARLY!

Simply Delicioso Comes To HSN…

Posted by: Lys | Comments (2)

When I saw Ingrid Hoffmann a few weeks ago at the Philadelphia Food & Wine Show, she gave me a heads up that she developed her own line of Simply Delicioso products with HSN.  Well the premiere is tomorrow and the products are beyond sweet.  Check out a few things that are on the HSN site.

The cookware is developed with T-Fal and Ingrid gave me a heads up that it isn’t insanely heavy.  Some other cookware can make you feel like you are weight lifting and Ingrid wanted something that had ease of use and superior quality.   The knives are through Furi and y’all know that Furi works with another FN Personality and those knives are really good from what I’ve heard (I’m a Global gal personally).  The prices are phenomenal, the colors will work in your kitchen and, yes, this gal is about to get her shop on – with Cash Back of course (6% through either Mr. Rebates or Ebates!)

Now first up, this 3 piece cutlery set WITH case

IH-3pieceCutlerySet

There is a fabulous 12 piece enamel cookware set that will take care of all of your cooking needs…

IH-12PieceEnamelSet

Also, she has some specialty pieces such as this Comal

IH-Comal

And a Paella pan which I am obsessed with … (Paella in Philadelphia – who knew?!?!?)

IH-Paella

¡Ay, qué rico!

Make sure to check out the HSN Cooks! event tomorrow and get to shoppin’…

Have y’all heard about RueLaLa – one of the primo spots to get all things fashionable on the cheap?  I can tell you that when they have a killer sale such as Gucci, Kooba, Cole Haan, etc., I’m waiting for that lovely email to pop in the inbox at 11:00 a.m. to indicate that my sale engine needs to start.  The sales are 2 days long and the deals are so good you just want to cry with happiness when you’ve scored *that thing* you’ve been coveting.

Lately, RueLaLa has been having some sales that have deviated from the fashionable and headed to a gal’s inner culinary/home decorating diva.  We’re talking Calphalon, Waterford, Wustof, Villeroy & Boch, Mauviel, etc.   Top name brands at killer prices.

Guess what’s on tap for this Tuesday – KitchenAid.  The sale starts at 11:00 a.m. on July 15th.  So if you aren’t a RueLaLa member, what are you waiting for – sign up, it’s free.

Just don’t say I didn’t give you a heads up.

Happy Shopping!

Spicin’ Up Your Sangria…

Posted by: Lys | Comments (2)

Cinco de Mayois just around the corner and, like before, I’m still on the fence of “Do I or Don’t I” get a sangria pitcher.  When it comes to cocktails, a well made sangria is in my top 5.  However, I think when I make it, I’d like to add a little “Za Za Zu” to the presentation.

Luckily, La Tienda is having a sale on their sangria pitchers but there are so many to choose from.
