Cool New Product: g-Spout

Posted by: Lys | Comments (1)

This came across my path and I’m thinking that this is going to be a must to save my countertops and cookware.  Check out the g-Spout which is a “double duty” product.  Not only does it help you pour out grease, batter, etc. but also it works as a spoon rest.

Plus, it doesn’t take up valuable real estate in the utensil drawer.  I can just remove that funnel that never seems to fully work correctly.

From their website:

The g-Spout is a removable spout/strainer that easily attaches to a skillet, double boiler, bowl or can. Made of high temperature food grade silicone, the g-Spout is microwave and dishwasher safe.

The g-Spout was originally developed to encourage the environmentally responsible disposal of cooking grease and oil, and to help eliminate clogged drains and sewers. But, the g-Spout has become so much more! Customers are suggesting new uses almost every day! It’s great for making cupcakes, muffins, and pancakes without drips or baked on batter; drizzling chocolate, and caramel from a double boiler; pouring paint back into bottles; straining fruit salad, vegetables or rice; pouring sugar, salt or coffee; and of course, straining hot bacon or hamburger grease into disposable containers.

You can check it out HERE.

One of the best investments besides my knives that I have made for the kitchen has been the Le Creuset.  Le Creuset is functional, heats beautifully, cleans like a dream and, most importantly, looks gorgeous!  Now you know I have been obsessed with all things Caribbean as Teal is my fave color, however when Sur La Table debuted Le Creuset’s new Cassis and Lilac collections, my jaw dropped.  The Cassis color is this deep rich purple that reminds me of my great grandmother’s favorite chair.  The Lilac bakeware brings a sense of spring to one’s kitchen and is a complement to any other Le Creuset pieces you may have.

I have come to this important realization – that my Caribbean and Red Le Creuset pieces can co-exist with the Cassis and Lilac collections that need to be in my kitchen.  A bonus realization – the braiser definitely is coming home with me!

Cassis Cast Iron Braiser – I sooo need this (more than a pair of Tory Burch Revas!)

And isn’t this Mini Cocotte adorable?  Mini Mac & Cheeses come to mind…

Colin Cowie’s New Summer Line for HSN…

Posted by: Lys | Comments (4)

Colin Cowie debuted his Spring/Summer line for HSN today and, I have to confess, I spent quite a bit of time with my jaw to the floor going over the products. Some of the products, I had heard about in advance but my poor wallet is screaming at me.   Thankfully I was able to get cash back from Mr. Rebates but still… eeeks!  I did, however, control myself with a couple purchases I’m still thinking about.

When it comes to entertaining, I swear by his products.  I’ve found that they are durable, beyond classic and top quality.  I’ve been more than pleased with my past purchases and when I’ve had a great experience, I tend to be brand loyal.

I splurged on his Appetizer Plates which I felt will be a great accent to my dishes that I bought from his line previously.

For perfect entertaining, check out this wood and porcelain chip and dip server

and matching 3 bowl wood and porcelain server.

I was looking at this wire cloche plate cover for outdoor grilling. I’m not a fan of bugs to say the least and this looks like it might help…

Finally, check out this three part server – love love LOVE!  Not only would this be great on the countertop but also in the bathroom.

Colin also has been showcasing his new gourmet food line. The first to garner my attention: the Spice Collection from Urban Accents and, well, you all know I’m a sucker for anything spice related.

Couple that with his Urban Accents All Natural Dryglaze Spice Rub Collection and, yes, I’m a goner. Check out that Bombay Blitz. Expect a more detailed review when I get them in.

HSN has some great deals and if what you are looking for is sold out, rest assured, they are getting more in. He’s already hinted that his fall line is going to be phenomenal so be prepared.  Also, the price point on all of the items is reasonable and even some deals (like the plates which I bought a couple months ago and are now marked down to $30.  ARG!)

To quote him earlier today “The best investment in life is to invest in family and friends.”  So very true…
